Due 3/21/2012: High School Essay Contest for Austin teen to win $500 prize

High school students can earn prize money for writing a Healthy Lifestyles/ Environmental Action essay. The Austin Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility is sponsoring an essay contest for 9th–12th graders in the Austin area. All they have to do is answer the following question in 500 words or less by March 21st:

"Although environmental health risks are often thought to be due to exposure to toxic substances and natural or man-made disasters, they occur frequently in everyday life—in homes, in schools, in water supplies, at food markets, and in restaurants. What does this mean for keeping Texans healthy?"

The winner will receive a $500 prize with $250 going to the runner-up. To enter the contest, submit your essay and a cover sheet with your contact information, school, and grade to austinpsr@gmail.com by March 21st. For more information go to austinpsr.org.
