Professor Robin Moore of the Natural Learning Initiative is coming to Austin! The Natural Learning Initiative promotes the importance of the natural environment in the daily experience of all children, through environmental design, action research, education and dissemination of information. Professor Moore, a superstar in the world of outdoor play and urban planning, will be consulting on the design of two new natural play areas in Johnson City and Austin. 

As director of the NC State University Natural Learning Initiative, Moor is currecntly involved in the design and/or renovation of dozens of outdoor spaces for preschools, special education facilities, and schoolgrounds. He is a member of the eight-country Growing Up in Cities action research project speonsored by UNESCO, is co-director of the Buenes Aires and Jordan field projects and has lectured in many countries on issues of childhood and environment and responses to those issues through landscape design. Moor is the author or co-austor of Childhood's Domain: Play and Place in Child Developement (1986), Plants for Play (1993), Natural Learning (1997), and numerous articles on the use of the outdoor environment by children, youth and families.
